With the Spring/Summer season just around the corner, keeping track of new and emerging graphic tee shirt trends is key. Patternbank spotted these graphic delights by street-wear brand Carhartt. They have just released a batch of 70 strong tee shirt styles with a real mix of inspiring graphic. The S/S13 collection sees a strong visual play on twisted retro sports graphics, outdoor hunting themes and comic book inspired prints. Guest artists called upon these season included: David Lanaspa, Doubleday & Cartwright, Rise Above, Typeholics, Playarea, Will Kemp, and Sergey Shapiro. The Patternbank team visited London’s Affordable Art Fair in Battersea Park last weekend. The Affordable Art Fair’s formula is simple, yet unique: a relaxed, inspiring environment and lots of good quality contemporary art. Patternbank are loving Huang Qi Lin’s geometry and mathematical fueled visual structures. Collage and new forms of creative collage are huge trends influences many artists and apparel graphics at the moment. Patternbank stumbled across these interesting art forms from UK illustrator Charles Williams. His technique of using textured and found paper to build his structured portraits and typographical experiments have a real fresh edge to them. Williams is already making an impact, with clients like Nike, VW, BBC, GC and Uniqlo already on his books.

New York City, letters, graffiti and text all serve as sources of inspiration for Greg Lamarche. His collages incorporate found materials and a variety of commercially printed papers. Each unique work is created by hand cut paper collected over the years and blends the elements of graphic design and fine arts.  Born and raised in New York, Greg Lamarche created his first collages in the sixth grade when he used reworks wrappers found in his schoolyard.
