Patternbank brings you a snapshot of our favourite print designers seen at the recent  New Designers Graduate show in London.

The Patternbank team once again had the privilege of experiencing this years emerging talent at the New Designers Graduate show.  New Designers is the UK’s most important graduate design exhibition, full of innovation and fresh thinking. Part 1 of the graduate show focused on Textiles and surface pattern design courses and was the ultimate event to spot the next wave of creative talent to hit the industry.

Vans have teamed up with the amazing Japanese contemporary artist Takashi Murakami on a limited edition range of their Vault collection for fall 2015. Murakami, known for his contemporary, colourful, graphic, cartoon style has brought to life the Vans classic slip-on, using his “superflat” form with two recurring motifs, the smiling flower and skull patterns. Other items including graphic tees, skate decks and cute toddler slip-ons which have simple single image prints of Murakami’s flower, skull and his famed dog “Pom”, who also features on the inside of the shoes. The collection is available from June 27th at select stores.

Ceramics can be more than just a decorated plate or vase and Molly Hatch’s installations are fine examples of contemporary decoration. Taking inspiration from historical trends in ceramic and fabric design Hatch mixes things up, playing with scale and creating detail that becomes part of a bigger picture. Hatch’s work has a strong drawing style with a whimsical feel which translates well to fabric and other areas of surface design, she has produced some fabulous tableware for Anthropologie and stunning limited edition pieces for the V&A. Hisham Akira Bharoocha takes day dreaming to a new level with his mind blowing collages that explore a world beyond everyday life. Bharrocha’s style is a mix of techniques that are inspired through feelings and visuals within the mind. Based in Brooklyn, New York, Bharrocha is very much part of the underground community’s creative leaders, continually trying to bring together the visual art, music and fashion communities for collaboration. One such collaboration was with singer, songwriter, producer and model Solange on a line of trainers for Puma. The Patternbank team were at London’s recent Pulse trade show for home and gifts. Pulse by Top Drawer is the ideal place to source brand new product from a mix of established brands. Our team found innovation and inspiration in the Launchpad section of the trade fair, with an array of fresh new designers displaying directional graphic and pattern use. Here we’ve featured a selection of the strongest most direction brands that caught our eye.

Peris & Corr are an eco-friendly textile screen printing company located in the Snowdonia National Park in North Wales. They create a range of organic cotton and natural linen textile products all hand-printed in their studio using solvent free water-based inks.

Rude

London based Rude specialises in hand drawn illustrations that are big, bold and bright.  Rude are Abi & Rupert Meats, they set out 14 years ago with a simple vision: to recreate the graphic landscape with bold urban witticisms and motifs. Patternbank love their new stationery collection which is a mix of fun pattern plays and colourful typographical statement prints that bring everyday items to life.
