At first glance the work of photographer Andreas Zimmermann appears to depict urban landscapes created out of children’s toy building blocks. The photographs are in fact high-resolution photos of individual Lego which are then digitally assembled on a computer to produce these clever landscape patterns. Patternbank love the playful colour and composition where order sometimes clashes, tricking the eye into seeing something that is not quite what it first appears.

The Patternbank team are loving the new SS17 Ready to Wear collection from Alexander McQueen in our final print highlight for Paris Fashion Week. The Shetland Isles in Scotland was the source of inspiration for dresses adorned in wild flowers and traditional lace from the crofters and Fair Isle patterns which made up cosy jumpers and delicate dresses.

Patternbank are loving the playful geometric work of German designer Ruben Fischer. Bold colour and striking graphic layouts appear throughout Fischer’s fresh modern artworks. Stripes, simple shapes, scribbles, graphic key lines and graph paper are taken through an abstract process to create some captivating visual statements. Fischer recently graduated from  HfG Offenbach University of Art & Design and is currently working at Hort creative studios in Berlin. See more of his work on his tumblr –
