The Patternbank team are loving the new SS17 Ready to Wear collection from Alexander McQueen in our final print highlight for Paris Fashion Week. The Shetland Isles in Scotland was the source of inspiration for dresses adorned in wild flowers and traditional lace from the crofters and Fair Isle patterns which made up cosy jumpers and delicate dresses.

The Patternbank Team have analysed all the key print trends at London Fashion Week and today we bring you Part 2 of the highlights from the London shows. The current trend for mixing different eras continued with the 1930’s and 40’s appearing heavily on the catwalk as well as the 70’s glam rock styles with a touch of Ziggy Stardust. Eccentric women in all their glory with beautiful florals and lace with a few wacky added touches like rain hats at Christopher Kane. Watch out for Milan Fashion Week live on the site later this week.

The Paris runway was no disappointment for pattern lovers, as Spring/Summer 2016 came alive with a vibrant and eclectic mix of colour and pattern. Dries Van Noten ticked all the boxes with his eccentric dress-up collection of clashing brights and rich patterns all fighting for attention and Giambattista Valli successfully combined an array of 70’s furnishing patterns in attractive shades to produce a wearable retro look. Catch Paris Part 2 later next week to complete Patternbank’s coverage of all the best bits from the SS16 shows.

If you’ve had enough of the beautiful game and wanted more of a creative spin on things, check out these fictional national jerseys we spotted recently. Canadian illustrator Dead Dilly teamed up with High Snobiety to create these World cup designer Jerseys. From Raf Simons and Givenchy to BABE and Supreme, the prints on each piece of apparel are lifted with a mix of camouflage and snakeskin patterns.

Mary Katrantzou

01-Mary-Katranzou-Christmas-Jumper

To celebrate Christmas Jumper Day 14 British designers including Alexander McQueen, Burberry and Mary Katrantzou have customised identical jumpers in their own unique style to raise money for Save The Children. The charity’s annual Christmas Jumper Day on Friday 13th December invites all to wear a Christmas Jumper and donate £1 or more to Save The Children. This year they have partnered with Westfield and the British Fashion Council with unique Christmas Jumpers hand-knitted by fashion brand Wool and the Gang before being customised by the designers. The collection is on show at Westfield London until December 30th, with an installation designed by Stuart Semple. The unique auction comes with a twist as the lowest bid wins, so why not try your luck and go to savethechildren.org.uk and bid on one of these fabulous jumpers.

Originally from Devon, England, Hermione De Paula studied at Central Saint Martins where she gained work experience with the likes of Christian Dior Couture, Alexander McQueen, John Galliano and then worked for Jennifer Nicholson in Los Angeles. Since returning to London and setting up her own label, she continues to freelance and consult for London-based companies such as Nicolas Kirkwood. Recent collaborations include ASOS.com. Her Autumn/Winter 2012/2013 collection, ‘Marguerite’s Menagerie’ centres around the fictional character who is a dreamer that allows exotic animals and floral prints to swathe her body. De Paula’s signature Dark twisted florals are joined by monkeys, exotic birds, flying fish and bees as well as a 3D dimension of feather embellishments and bead embroideries to adorn her muse. via Stylebubble.com
