Rei Kawakubo never seizes to amaze and delight in all that she creates. Her A/W collection for 2012 was just that, a visual theatre of models in oversize flat shapes of bold colour and pattern reminiscent of a matisse painting. Solid shapes of colour were like gigantic pieces of fuzzy felt walking down the catwalk. Graphic camouflage was mixed with child like flowers and others with Alice in Wonderland checkerboards. Polka dots also featured which reminded us that Yayoi Kusama at The Tate Modern is going to be another great artist influencing the print world. As Kawakubo nicely puts it “The future is two dimensional.” comme-des-garcons.com Images Vogue.com
