The Paris runway was no disappointment for pattern lovers, as Spring/Summer 2016 came alive with a vibrant and eclectic mix of colour and pattern. Dries Van Noten ticked all the boxes with his eccentric dress-up collection of clashing brights and rich patterns all fighting for attention and Giambattista Valli successfully combined an array of 70’s furnishing patterns in attractive shades to produce a wearable retro look. Catch Paris Part 2 later next week to complete Patternbank’s coverage of all the best bits from the SS16 shows.

Milan is upping it’s game this season and Spring/Summer 2016 runway was filled with an abundance of rich, decorative prints and an inspiring variation on trends from the designers, who were not always following the norm. Take Prada for instance who went out on a limb and gave us a bit of everything going, a mash-up of seventies wallpapers to mid-century modern, it all came together in the usual sophisticated Prada way. Gucci also went for a mixing pot of ideas from oriental to expensive vintage with just the right amount of frills and decoration. Etro with their usual affinity towards textiles brought a romantic folk look to the fore, where beautiful embroidery prints took centre stage in delicate silhouettes. Catch Milan Part 2 later this week and the Paris Shows next week.

The Patternbank team have been busy extracting all the key print looks for you in the final instalment of New York Fashion Week. Coach for Spring/Summer 2016 tempted us with pretty prairie floral combinations, a recurring theme seen on the catwalk this week. Tommy Hilfiger and Anna Sui showed bright beach tropicals from the Caribbean and Hawaii for a laid back summer vibe. Other important trends came from more far flung destinations of the orient where kimono style prints caught our eye. Look out for our forthcoming report on London Fashion Week.
